Inside the Chip: CPU, GPU and Memory

The CPU behind the Dimensity 8450 benchmarks uses only Cortex-A725 cores, a design MediaTek calls All Big Core: one at up to 3.25GHz, three at up to 3.0GHz, and four at up to 2.1GHz, with 1MB of L2 cache, 6MB of L3 cache and a 7W limit on TSMC’s 4nm process.

Graphics come from the Arm Mali-G720 MP7, a fifth-generation GPU at up to 1,300MHz with 896 shaders and 2,329.6 gigaflops, per NanoReview, supporting Vulkan 1.3, OpenCL 3.0 and DirectX 12. MediaTek’s own page calls it the Mali-G720 MC7, while NanoReview lists it as MP7.

Memory is LPDDR5X at 4,266MHz, up to 68.2 Gb/s and up to 24GB. Storage is UFS 4.0. The camera supports up to 320MP, or three 32MP sensors, with 4K60 video and a 2,960 x 1,440 display ceiling. These parts shape what the Dimensity 8450 benchmarks show in real phones.

How the 8450 Stacks Up Against the Dimensity 8500

The closest comparison is the Dimensity 8500, announced on January 5, 2026, with the same all Cortex-A725 design and a Mali-G720 MP8 at 1,508MHz. In the Dimensity 8450 benchmarks comparison, it totals 2,120,347 on AnTuTu 11 (CR), about 5 percent ahead.

The surprise sits in the subscores. The 8450’s AnTuTu GPU subscore of 641,242 runs higher than the 8500’s 633,638, despite the 8500’s faster GPU on paper. The 8450 also leads on the CPU subscore and Geekbench 6 single-core. Sub-scores vary by test run and device, so these leads say more about the samples than the silicon.

The 8500 pulls ahead on memory and multi-core. Its AnTuTu memory subscore of 376,271 runs about 47 percent higher than the 8450’s 256,365, its multi-core score beats 6,210 by about 3 percent, and its Compute score of 13,461 is about 9 percent higher. NanoReview scores the 8500 at 68, one point above the 8450.

Connectivity in Daily Use

The chip supports 5G with downloads up to 5,170Mbps, per NanoReview, and MediaTek lists up to 5.17 Gbps. The modem covers sub-6GHz 5G with 5G-Advanced support, plus dual SIM dual active.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are where the sources disagree. NanoReview lists Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 6.0, while MediaTek lists Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. This article reports both.

In practice, the modem matters most on fast sub-6GHz 5G networks, which cover most markets outside the United States. Buyers in Bangladesh and South Asia will see no daily benefit from extra headroom.

AI and the Camera: What the NPU 880 Brings

The MediaTek NPU 880 handles on-device AI, and MediaTek says it supports the latest mainstream large and small language models, plus its Dimensity Agentic AI Engine. These are company claims; no independent lab has published AI scores yet.

MediaTek also claims the NPU 880 runs integer and floating-point operations 20 percent faster and 18 percent more power-efficiently than the previous generation, with 33 percent faster text generation in Baichuan 4B and 21 percent faster Stable Diffusion v1.5 (MF). Its Imagiq 1080 camera system supports in-sensor zoom with 100 percent PDAF and HDR video across the zoom range.

Battery: What the 91 Rating Does and Does Not Mean

NanoReview gives the Dimensity 8450 a battery life rating of 91 in its Dimensity 8450 benchmarks page, its highest category score for this chip. That reflects the chip’s efficiency profile on a 4nm process with a 7W limit, not a measured run time.

Battery life depends on the phone around the chip: battery size, display, software and signal strength matter more than the silicon name. No battery winner can be named here, because battery life depends on the phone, not the chip alone.

Dimensity 8450 benchmarks in Context: Who Should Care

Dimensity 8450 benchmarks matter most to buyers choosing an upper mid-range Oppo phone in late 2026. An AnTuTu 11 total above two million and a multi-core score above 6,200 place this chip well above budget silicon.

Gamers reading the Dimensity 8450 benchmarks should weigh the 3DMark figures more than the headline AnTuTu total. Solar Bay at 25 frames per second and Steel Nomad Light at 11 point to solid play in optimized titles.

One gap to watch is the thin Geekbench sample. Seven CPU tests and five Compute tests leave room for the scores to move as more Reno 15 and K13 Turbo results arrive.
